Apple iPhone 8 to include facial recognition, wireless charging

Apple iPhone 8 might just get some form of facial recognition features powered by a laser sensor, 5.8 inch OLED display with wireless charging. This was stated in a note distributed to the clients by the Cowen and Company, the financial services firm. According to the reports the note was shared with business Insider and Investors and the shared note includes many details about iPhone 8 which will be released in September.

The note by analyst Timothy Arcuri says that Apple will launch facial recognition which will be powered by a latest infrared sensor on the front camera, and the report is based on the supply chain sources. According to the investors note three iPhone models are coming in September 2017.

The iPhone 8 series with its new features will look like this: the biggest will be a 5.8 inch iPhone, with the regular 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch iPhone. The report also says the OLED display will be introduced in iPhone8, and the biggest version will have a design of “wraparound” with the Touch being under the glass.

The more interesting thing is that Apple introduces facial recognition in the iPhone, so interesting to see this feature, although how Cupertino implements it and what kind of use cases are added for this feature will make a huge difference. Samsung had launched iris scanner with ill-fate Galaxy Note 7, and users will have to see if this makes an appearance on the Samsung Galaxy S8 or not.

The reality is that Apple is going to introduce facial recognition in the upcoming iPhone and this is something new to know, although the bigger OLED display with wireless charging features also have been reported in this iPhone. Some other leaks have also indicated that apple will redesign iPhone 8 completely and Apple go back to an all glass body sandwich in a steel frame on the side same to the iPhone 4s series.

As according to the earlier reports, for the OLED features Apple will rely on Samsung, although LG and Sharp are expected to provide panels as well. However, a Bloomberg report had suggested that the Apple might not have enough suppliers to fill the demand for these OLED panels or teams, and there could be a constraint.

Apple’s new iPhone8 is supposed to sport a bezel-less design, according to the note, although it is yet not clear if Apple will launch OLED on all three iPhone versions or just keep it for the bigger version of 5.8 inch of the phone.

The Apple’s iPhone 8 will be a great and big deal given it is the 10th anniversary of the famed Smartphone, and the analysts expect iPhone sales to drop 2017, along with numbers going up in the quarters after the latest and new device are introduced. Apple iPhone series has been noticed as an incremental upgrade, and is not expected to increase sales for the company.
